Discover Total Joint Care for a Lifetime

Texas Center for Joint Replacement (TCJR) is a premier joint replacement and joint preservation practice serving the communities of North Texas. Our orthopedic surgeons have been helping lead the way in hip and knee replacement for over 40 years. The center was founded in 1972 by total joint replacement pioneer Dr. William C. Head, who recognized that a dedicated total joint center would provide optimal surgical care and ongoing support to people suffering from painful, and often debilitating, joint conditions. We are not only committed to providing joint replacement solutions that bring relief today, but to building relationships with our patients for any help they might need for future joint needs, as well.

TCJR has built a reputation on specializing in the diagnosis, education, care and treatment of hip, knee and shoulder joint replacement patients. Our board-certified and fellowship-trained physicians have combined expertise in total and partial knee replacement; as well as total hip, shoulder, elbow and ankle replacement.

Texas Center for Joint Replacement has a history of providing breakthrough surgical treatments, including:

  • First total joint replacement in Dallas, performed by Dr. William Head.
  • First Oxford® Partial Knee performed in Texas.
  • First reverse shoulder in North Texas.
  • First anterior hip in North Texas.
  • First successful titanium hip stem in the United States.
  • First mobile-bearing, unicompartmental knee replacements in the United States.
  • First group to employ an integrated joint recovery program, which has become the model for outstanding post-operative care.

Additionally, Texas Center for Joint Replacement provides our patients with access to EOS ®orthopedic imaging. This new, innovative 3D imaging system offers patients in need of lower limb X-rays the advantages of faster, safer imaging. EOS can detect joint issues much faster than traditional X-ray devices — three-quarter in as little as 20 seconds. Plus, EOS exams work with radiation at a level 50 to 85 percent less than digital imaging, and 95 percent less than basic CT scans.

With more than 30,000 surgeries under our belt, our extensive history enables us to track and evaluate the results of our implant choices, surgical techniques, and peri-operative therapy as we advance the art of joint replacement. As a highly-regarded orthopedic practice, Dr. Emerson and other staff members are often called upon to speak about milestones in joint replacement and TCJR successes.
